Herman

Herman is an African spurred tortoise, commonly named a Sulcata.  We got Herman in June of 2020 and she was about 3.5 lbs.  We /think/ she was about 4 years old.  As of 02/06/2022, she is just over 23lbs, she's grown 20 lbs in 20 months!!!  

She loves to hang out in the morning and have her "quiet time" in the doorway before making it out for some grass and pets.  This time of the year, she's only out of her box about 2-3 hours a day, where it's a toasty 85-90 degrees!  She's quickly outgrowing her current house, so we're planning a new build in the Spring, time for an upgrade!!!  

You may see her coming and going, drinking her water, sleeping on her heating mat (on the front left), pooping, sometimes digging and just generally doing tortoise stuff!

Just an update.  Been building Herman a new house that last couple of weekends, of course when it's 102 in Houston (yeah, why didn't I do it in March).  Anyway.  As of 07/10/2022, Herman is up to 29lbs!!!  She's a growin girl, that's fo sho...
